Community

#SaveTheSmallGuys

SMEs represent over 94 percent of all companies operating within the UAE. Critical to most economies, they play a major role by providing job opportunities and contributing to global economic development. More importantly, small businesses are the heart of most communities.

Small businesses such as wedding planners, coffee shops and boutiques, provide us with more than just goods and services. They bring us warm and unique experiences with every purchase, they create jobs and they are invaluable to the communities and globally.

Despite their resilience, they are facing numerous challenges due to Covid-19 pandemic and they need our help. They have suffered from interrupted cash flows, low sales and a reduction in their workforce.

In the UAE, supporting SMEs is a priority for the federal government as part of its policy to diversify the national economy and generate employment opportunities. This is also Bank of Sharjah’s priority, and we believe it is important to help our communities during times of need.
To do our part and give back to our appreciated local businesses, we launched in July a campaign to give a grant for four SME’s of AED 25,000 each. Nominees & winners were selected by the community.

We are now proud to announce that you, UAE communities, have come together to #SaveTheSmallGuys.

You voted, we listened.

The elected SMEs who were the winners of our #SaveTheSmallGuys grant are:
